One Word for 2018

One Word for 2018

Hello everyone! HAPPY NEW YEAR! I love starting out every year with a new word to lead me through the year. I love goal setting and the fresh new mindset the new year seems to bring people, but my favorite thing to do every year is ask God what my "word" is for the year. I started doing this in 2014 and I'll never stop. The amount of growth and depth the years have brought me through doing this is amazing.

Here are some of my words in the past years:

  • 2014 - TRUST
  • 2015 - RELATIONSHIPS
  • 2016 - SURRENDER
  • 2017 - LOVE

How do you get your word?

Thats up to you! Its been different for me every year. One thing that does remain consistent is that I wait until I feel its from the Lord. Some years I've prayed and prayed and it took weeks before I heard it. Sometimes its a word that I see everywhere and I just feel in my spirit thats what God wants me to focus on. Other times I've known areas in my life that I needed growth and the word gave me the courage I needed to break through. This year I totally forgot about picking a word. I was reading a devotion and BAM! A thought zipped through my mind saying this is your word for the year. Thank you Holy Spirit.

My word for 2018:

PEACE

Something I've been longing for is feeling that deep and intimate connection to God on a continuous basis. Since becoming a mom it's so easy to let the physical aspect of our days consume us. Dishes, changing diapers, making meals, laundry, groceries etc. So many days I forget to stop and fill up on His presence. And where His presence is, there is PEACE. Don't get me wrong stepping into motherhood has also highlighted new aspects of God and His goodness, and I've seen into new depths of who He is through this journey. However, I don't have to separate household tasks and soaking in His presence. He can be there through it all, and I believe He will use this word to bring so much transformation throughout this year. I am so excited to see what this year brings and what God has in store for our family. I'm eagerly anticipating so much growth and depth in 2018 and I pray your year is filled with the same!!
